Mark & Becky ~ Engagement

My first bride of 2014 and her soon to be hubby!! I've known this bride for a long, long time and I affectionately nick-named her "Beck-Tron" one summer in a softball frenzy. Now my friend, Beck-Tron is in love, and ready to walk down the aisle. I had so much fun talking wedding and getting to know the man who stole her heart!

They braved the bitter cold for these pictures and it was TOTALLY WORTH IT!! I can't wait to capture their wedding day in May and watch them grow old together.

Congrats Mark & Becky!

Outtake

I'm still here! And I have lots of new recent sessions to still update to the blog but in the mean time, enjoy this outtake from our SECOND attempt at a Christmas card. I'm not sure what our problem is this year. Either I'm too picky for my own picture because I'm a photographer, OR I have a one year old that hasn't learned that when Mommy puts a camera in her face and says "Smile," YOU BETTER SMILE! Either way, I thought this was a cute outtake of the two I have already trained to smile at the camera.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and I can't wait to start getting Christmas cards in the mail!

I am thankful for all of you for making this my most successful year of photography yet. I can't wait to see what the upcoming year holds for everyone.

The Pilkington Family

What a sweet, sweet family. And you would never know that this adorable child was apparently sick. She was such a rock star and definitely runs the show. If you browse through the pictures below, my favorite one is when mom and dad are kissing and she is sitting on dad's lap - her hand is also slightly in the air. This is because she was not enjoying having her Mom steal some of her Daddy's time! "That's my Daddy!" I LOVE IT!! How cute is that? And how much of a Daddy's girl is this little sweet pea? Can't wait to meet their newest edition arriving soon!

The Stachowiak Family

Beautifully, happy family. I barely had to prompt any of these people, mom and dad included, to hug, kiss or get closer. They are a tight knit bunch and there is a part of me that is jealous of their "togetherness." Well done Mom and Dad! You've raised four great kids and the love you two share is something people strive to have.

The Paulson Family

Oh My Word - not everything turns out perfectly. It just doesn't happen...and this is just life, REAL LIFE. The littlest man in this family just did not want anything to do with me or getting his picture taken. It just wasn't what he wanted to do this day, and sometimes, that's just the way it goes. It's never my favorite session as a photographer because I feel horrible that we didn't get that "cookie cutter" photograph that is needed for the Christmas card. But, as a mom of 3, I get that some times the kids just don't want to be there.  And thankfully, his mom understood that too. That he's a little kid and no amount of bribing was going to change how he felt about their photo session or me! And although I know these aren't the exact type of pictures that you hope for when you schedule a photo session...to me...they are real. SO real. Real life. The reality of what can happen when you are trying to raise three kids. They aren't always all in a good mood. They don't always do what you ask them to do. They are their own people and sometimes, they chose what THEY want to do.

And even though these aren't the "cookie-cutter" pictures you necessarily dream of, these are some of my all-time favorites from my mini-sessions. Especially this first picture. Now this is REAL LIFE!
